SPI Sea Turtle Inc. is a new 15,000 sq.ft. facility is now the largest fully enclosed sea turtle hospital in the world, significantly expanding their ability to rescue, rehabilitate, and study sea turtles. The new hospital triples the organization's previous capacity, allowing them to care for up to 100 sea turtles simultaneously. The facility includes a state-of-the-art surgical suite and a dedicated CT scan machine for sea turtles, making it the only one of its kind in the world. Visitors can observe medical procedures through windows in patient care rooms and engage with educational displays about sea turtle anatomy and conservation challenges. The hospital includes a dedicated research center that tackles key threats to sea turtle populations, including cold-stun events, disease, and habitat loss. It also offers on-site living accommodations for interns and scientists, supporting long-term research and conservation efforts.
